Accra Technical University (ATU) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Strategic Institute for Drone Security at Soonchunhyang University, Republic of Korea. The partnership, formalised on Thursday, July 1, 2025, marks a major milestone in ATU\u2019s ambition to become a hub for drone technology and innovation in Ghana and beyond.<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n
The five-year agreement sets the stage for joint research, student and faculty exchanges, curriculum development, and collaborative projects in drone security, public safety, and emerging aviation technologies.<\/p>\n
During the signing ceremony, Professor Amevi Acakpovi, Acting Vice-Chancellor of ATU, expressed his appreciation to the Korean delegation and reaffirmed the university\u2019s readiness to fully embrace the partnership. \u201cThis collaboration strengthens our capacity to lead in drone education and contribute meaningfully to Ghana\u2019s technological transformation,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n
Professor Lee Byoung Seok, Director of the Strategic Institute for Drone Security, praised Ghana\u2019s potential for innovation and identified ATU as a leading force in advancing drone studies. He reaffirmed Soonchunhyang University\u2019s commitment to long-term collaboration and invited ATU to participate in future academic exchanges in Korea.<\/p>\n
As part of the event, participants were treated to a live drone demonstration, showcasing advanced drone capabilities and highlighting the practical relevance of the partnership. The demonstration drew attention from students, faculty, and guests, offering a glimpse into the future of drone applications in public safety, surveillance, and engineering.<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
